Hekima Place is located in Kiserian, Kenya, a small town approximately an hour southwest of the capital Nairobi.
Our spacious, peaceful residential campus is a respite for our girls, who have experienced so much sadness and loss in their young lives. Hekima Place serve communities in northern Kajiado County, working hand in hand with the county’s District Children’s Office, which places orphaned, abused, or abandoned girls who are in most urgent need of safety and care.
In 2009, through the generosity of private donors, Hekima Place was able to build a new permanent campus on ten acres of purchased land. Hekima Place now consists of six homes for the girls and their caretakers, a dining hall, administrative buildings, a large garden, room for livestock, and a borehole that provides safe, clean water both for the home and the local community.
Since our founding in 2005, the Hekima Place family has grown from 10 girls living in a rented facility, to 86 girls today, who range from infants to university students. The Hekima Place family also includes 25 dedicated Kenyan house mothers and staff members, as well as numerous volunteers who travel from around the world each year to assist us in our work.
